My Week in TV pt. 1

Revenge (Sundays 9/8c): MEH. I don’t know if it’s the new writers they have this season or the acting, but I am just not feelin’ it. I was literally OBSESSED with seasons 1 and 2 and this new one just feels different. In the season premiere episode (SPOILER ALERT) when Emily/Amanda was shot – and apparently killed – on the boat, I didn’t really care. That’s saying something if you don’t have a reaction when the main character dies in the first 5 seconds of the season. I think they started out that way so viewers will stick around all season to see who killed her, but it could honestly be ANYBODY. Everyone seems to hate Emily/Amanda these days. Usually that’s what makes it exciting, but unless there’s some huge plot twist coming up, I’m just really not into it. But I’ll continue to watch, obvi.

New Girl (Tuesdays 9/8c): HOORAY. I love that Jess and Nick are finally together after all that awkward sexual tension in the previous seasons. I gotta say, I was a little disturbed when Schmidt took all of Jess’ birth control pills out of rage/in attempt to break the new pair up – but then I remembered it was just a TV show and that didn’t really happen, thank GOD. All in all, loving this season so far. Well-written, funny, relatable, woohoo.

The Voice (Mondays 8/7c & Tuesdays 9/8c): Guilty pleasure, for sure. I just love Blake Shelton. And the rest of the judges (Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, & CeeLo Green) are pretty great too. Judging based on the few auditions I saw, I think it’s going to be a fun season to watch with a lot of talent.

Modern Family (Wednesdays 9/8c): …is it just me or do all of my favorite shows come on at 9? Anyway, this week’s Modern Fam was hilariiiious. My roommate and I were just lol-ing all over the place. But would you expect anything less? If you haven’t already jumped on board the Modern Fam
bandwagon, 1) who are you? and 2) stop that right now and do it.

Parks & Rec (Thursdays 8/7c): This show is EVERYTHING. Amy Poehler is truly the greatest, and I cry a little inside every time I think about all of the Emmy’s she has been robbed of. Other than Modern Family, this is the funniest and most underrated show on television. If you need to catch up, all the beginning seasons are on Netflix – no excuses!

Glee (Thursdays 9/8c): Oh, my heart. This week’s episode was the much-anticipated tribute to the late Cory Monteith. If you know me, it probably isn’t surprising that I usually cry at some point or another during every episode of Glee anyway. Needless to say, I spent most of Thursday leading up to the episode feeling kind of nervous, trying to emotionally prepare. I wasn’t sure how they were going to address his death without losing Finn’s innocence. For many fans, Finn and Cory went hand-in-hand, both seeming so relatable on and off the screen. They didn’t address how he died in the show, and I don’t think they needed to. Cory’s death was so public in real life and affected so many people, it would have been strange for him to die any other way in the show. Instead they documented how each character was dealing with the loss in their own way. I thought it was beautifully done, and it showed the obvious bond that the entire Glee cast and crew have formed over the years. I see the cast on the Paramount lot from time to time, and I really just want to give them a hug. I’ve strangely felt so affected by Cory (and Finn’s) passing, as it is always heartbreaking to see someone taken so soon. I respect Glee for giving the fans some closure, and some pretty amazing music.

Scandal (Thursdays 10/9c): OLIVIA POPE DA GOD. I one day hope to be half the bad ass that Olivia is. As much as I want Liv & Fitz to be together, I hope it isn’t for a veryyy long time so the show never ends. Season 3 is becoming what I hoped it would be — Huck is still terrifying but sweet, Quinn is actually really scary now (calm down, girlfriend), and the rest of the Gladiators are doing their thing. Mellie and Cyrus need to just go somewhere, except not so that we can keep the show going. The introduction of her father and his role in b316 is genius, I knew Liv had some serious daddy issues. & YAY Jake’s alive (barely)! LOVE YA SHONDA, keep em coming!

Shows I want to watch: Nashville, The Mindy Project, The Walking Dead
Any other suggestions???
